Realistic Magnetohydrodynamical Simulation of Solar Local Supergranulation
نویسنده
چکیده
Three-dimensional numerical simulations of solar surface magnetoconvection using realistic model physics are conducted. The thermal structure of convective motions into the upper radiative layers of the photosphere, the main scales of convective cells and the penetration depths of convection are investigated. We take part of the solar photosphere with size of 60 × 60 Mm in horizontal direction and by depth 20 Mm from level of the visible solar surface. We use a realistic initial model of the Sun and apply equation of state and opacities of stellar matter. The equations of fully compressible radiation magnetohydrodynamics with dynamical viscosity and gravity are solved. We apply: 1) conservative TVD difference scheme for the magnetohydrodynamics, 2) the diffusion approximation for the radiative transfer, 3) dynamical viscosity from subgrid scale modeling. In simulation we take uniform two-dimesional grid in gorizontal plane and nonuniform grid in vertical direction with number of cells 600×600×204. We use 512 processors with distributed memory multiprocessors on supercomputer MVS-100k in the Joint Computational Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

متن کاملLocal helioseismology and correlation tracking analysis of surface structures in realistic simulations of solar convection
We apply time-distance helioseismology, local correlation tracking and Fourier spatial-temporal filtering methods to realistic supergranule scale simulations of solar convection and compare the results with high-resolution observations from the SOHO Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI). Our objective is to investigate the surface and sub-surface convective structures and test helioseismic measurement...
متن کاملModeling of small-scale turbulent magnetic fields on the Sun
Magnetic field generation is a key problem in understanding solar variability across a wide range of scales. Modern high-resolution observations of the global magnetic field distribution, such as from HMI/SDO (Scherrer et al. 2012), and magnetic fields in selected areas by NST/BBSO (Goode et al. 2010), SOT/Hinode (Tsuneta et al. 2008) and IMAX/SUNRISE (Solanki et al. 2010) demonstrate the compl...
متن کاملConvective Instability in the Solar Envelope
The characteristics of the most unstable fundamental mode and the first harmonic excited in the convection zone of a variety of solar envelope models are shown to be in reasonable agreement with the observed features of granulation and supergranulation.
متن کاملHelioseismic Holography of Simulated Solar Convection and Prospects for the Detection of Small-Scale Subsurface Flows
We perform helioseismic holography on realistic solar convection simulations and compare the observed travel-time perturbations with the expected travel times from the horizontal flows in the simulations computed from forward models under the assumption of the Born approximation. We demonstrate reasonable agreement between the observed and model travel times which reinforces the validity of hel...
